Rabat—Morocco’s National Society of Radio and Television (SNRT) will publicly broadcast the 2016 Olympic Games from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, according to the Moroccan daily newspaper Al Massae. This comes after the Arab States
Broadcasting Union (ASBU) bought the rights to cover the Games on cable and satellite television across the Arab region. As part of the ASBU, SNRT will air the 17-day event live on its channels. Commentary from the studio in Brazil will be added to the coverage of Moroccan athletes on channels like al-Aoula, Tamazight, and Arriadia TV.
Although the broadcasters aim to cover the events live, some will be recorded and broadcast at different times to accommodate for the time difference between Morocco and Brazil. ABSU will summarize the accomplishments of Arab athletes in the Olympic Games, which will take place across 35 stadiums and will be covered by 900 cameras. In total, 10,500 athletes will compete in 28 sports for 360 medals.
