Sudan’s press council takes measures against newspapers inciting hatred, racism

Excerpt from report by private Sudanese newspaper Al-Ra'y al-Amm on 10 December

The National Press and Publications Council [PPC] has directed the press and complaints committees to take legal and administrational measures against newspapers which have recently been inciting religious, ethnic and racial hatred and advocating violence which are contrary to the 2005 transitional constitution and current laws in the country.

The PPC further discussed a report on some newspapers that had been increasingly committing breaches and against which complaints had increased and directed for legal measures to be taken against these newspapers.
